Deputy Treasury Solicitor and Kaiwhakahaere Roia/Manager: The Treasury

Kia ora.  I’m the Deputy Treasury Solicitor and Manager, Commercial and Finance at Te Tai Ōhanga / the Treasury.  I’ve worked across a range of organisations advising on commericial, corporate, public and regulatory law both here in New Zealand and in the UK.

Te Puna Rōia (the Legal team at Te Tai Ōhanga) work across a wide variety of issues, which is a reflection of the Te Tai Ōhanga’s role as a central agency and as lead advisor to the Government on economic and financial policy. We have wide expertise in our team to reflect the breadth of our work, ranging from Te Tiriti, machinery of government, public law, commercial, corporate, banking and finance, legislation, litigation and bona vacantia. The team are talented and dedicated lawyers who care deeply about the Crown’s obligations as Te Tiriti partners and the impact of their work.

What I find most fulfilling about working as a lawyer in Government is the opportunity to work on important issues that make a difference for Aotearoa New Zealand.

The work can be challenging at times, but I am privileged to work with super smart and incredibly passionate people – both lawyers and across other disciplines - who care deeply about what they do and the impact of their work for New Zealand.
